Wow.

The 5 year old in question has Asperger’s Syndrome, which is a high functioning form of Autism. It can lead to social anxiety, isolationism and eccentric behavior. However, with the right encouragement, people with it can be mainstreamed, I personally know several and most of them are brilliant. After the vote he spent the rest of the day in the nurses office and now, when his mother drops his siblings off at the same school he starts crying and screaming that “he’s not special.”

So I guess the pertinent question here is what kind of dumbass lazy teacher lets 5 year olds make that kind of call? 5 year olds barely know how to tie their shoes, much less make a competent diagnosis on the social skills of kids with mental disabilities. It seems like someone just didn’t want to deal with a challenge and passed the buck…to a kindergarten class. Way to go ‘teach. That’s some fine edumaticating there.

And what a fantastic lesson to learn at a young age too. If you don’t like someone…just deport them.

That teacher should not be teaching. It’s a hasty judgment, granted, but I’m making it.

For example:

Adams School District 50 is defending its decision to punish a third grader for sniffing a Sharpie marker.
Eight-year-old Eathan Harris was originally suspended from Harris Park Elementary School for three days. Principal Chris Benisch reduced the suspension to one day after complaints from Harris’ parents.

Harris used a black Sharpie marker to color a small area on the sleeve of his sweatshirt. A teacher sent him to the principal when she noticed him smelling the marker and his clothing.

“It smelled good,” Harris said. “They told me that’s wrong.”

I’ve asked this before and I’ll just toss it out again for the hell of it. Why do we let such stupid fucking people be in charge of educating potentially smart people. It sets a bad example for kids to know that can rise that far by being an idiot. The idea that one can fail upwards, like so many public school administrators do, just isn’t the right thing for kids to know in their formative years.

But they’re public school administrators; the worst kind of bureaucrats in the known universe. If they were capipible of having real jobs, they’d have them.

Wouldn’t just explaining why an 8 year old shouldn’t huff markers be enough? Apparently not it seems. In today’s America every kid is just an ‘example to be made of’ that is waiting to happen. Why educate when you can just punish for half the cost and a mere fraction of whatever scraps of brainpower these administrators were tossed off the intellectual table of God.
